Pete was a fantastic servant of the club. He played in the 'bad old days' when we were at the bottom of Hampshire Division 3, so it was fitting that he was also part of the club's 1st XV squad that won Hampshire Division 1 last season and took us up in to the London leagues for the first time in our history.

Life was looking great for Pete. He was very much in love with Charmaine, who he was due to marry in August. The family building business, which he was a partner in and who are a great sponsor of the club, was doing well. He was also looking forward to leading our 2nd XV in their first season in Dorset & Wilts Division 3.

We still don't know the cause of Pete's death and we won't know the funeral arrangements until after the post mortem, but further details will be posted on the web site in due course.

The thoughts of the club and all of Pete's rugby friends are with his family. Tributes are already pouring in and one of the first was from Dave Goggins, up at Fordingbridge, who wanted his condolences passed on to Pete's family. His message concluded with the simple words 'dashing Pete was a real Gent '. I guess that sums up all of our thoughts.
