Our former player in the England team that won the Zagreb 7's
Congratulations to our former player Alicia Maude, who was in the England side that won the Zagreb 7's at the weekend.
England were unbeaten throughout the competition and didn’t concede a point all weekend.
The tournament in Croatia was part of the Rugby Europe Sevens Trophy Series, the next leg of which will be played in Budapest from 17-19 June.
The England captain Abbie Brown said after the tournament, “It was a different weekend for us. We played a lot of teams we've never faced before and a lot of the girls had never played in a Rugby Europe event. There were some exciting and new challenges.”
England beat Italy 56-0 in the final having been in dominant form against Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Georgia and Moldova.
Brown added, “To come away with a win at the end was a credit to everyone’s hard work and hard graft. The girls played well and I’m super proud of their efforts this weekend. We will rest up now and then focus on Budapest.”
