Surfing on the turf

It would be fair to say that the weather has been damp of late, so it was no real surprise that we had to move camp to Ringwood Rec last Sunday as the pitches at PBL had become unplayable. Thankfully, the heavy rain held off for our session and we got down to some rugby.

After recent successes, we played some harder games to try and test the kids' skill levels. Considering we upped the skill level quite a lot, they all did really well and gave us some ground to work on in coming weeks. Even our three new players did really well and showed great promise in their first session - well done Oliver, Brendan and Osian!

Thanks to Al Lendy for stepping in and helping Andy run the session, which was particularly appreciated by Andy as his voice rapidly disappeared.

A few things to note:

Can we all try and get the kids to wear gloves please. They'll keep bodies warm running around, but exposed fingers get cold very quickly, and there's nothing more painful than a rugby ball hitting the end of a freezing cold finger!

We are at Wimborne RFC this Sunday for a triangular training fixture; much like our trip to Tottonians but involving ourselves, Wimborne RFC and Weymouth RFC. Venue will be announced later in the week - we're just waiting for some pitch inspections and weather forecast predictions. We'll let you all know asap. It looks to be a great morning though as we could have 50+ U7's!!

Andy will soon be sending out some info on the next phase of training and what's involved. This is just to give you an idea of the RFU's thought processes and coaching best practice.
