Road trip to Overton

On Sunday 29th March, 14 ERRFC Under 7's players ( and parents ) headed to the Spring Cup tournament at Overton for their second tournament in 2 weeks.

Under grey skies and with strong winds and rain, Camp Ellingham was set up and with two teams of 7, we took on Overton and Fordingbridge in our first two matches ( 2 games per match ).

At the Hampshire Tournament last week, we drew and lost to Overton in our semi-final match but at the Spring Cup, we managed a win and a loss. Then against Fordingbridge, we had our best result of the season, with a win and a draw from the two teams. One of the teams actually finished unbeaten which was superb.

Sadly, the tournament was abandoned early due to the bad weather. Though we finished 3rd in our group, we actually had the best points per match ratio. We had 5 points from 2 matches compared to 6 points each for the top two teams who had played 3 matches before everything was called off.

Looking back to October 2014 and how our group of under 7's performed at the New Milton tournament, the improvement we have seen since then has been absolutely amazing and everyone should be extremely proud of themselves. We have seen improved defensive lines, better attacking runs, more accurate passing/catching and consistent tagging.

We always ask our players to have fun and improve and yesterday was no exception in very difficult conditions with players getting cold & wet.
