And they keep on running!

As the season draws to a close, it’s great to watch the kids playing rugby! That might sound odd, but all the kids have made such big improvements this season, it’s great to see them running, passing, sidestepping, scoring tries - all those great parts of the new philosophy of rugby!

To explain that last bit! Over the years, rugby in general has often focussed on tackling, rucking, recycling the ball etc. We’re still a couple of season away from all that, and the RFU now encourage an evasive and invasive form of rugby played with a positive attitude - don’t worry about the tackle, teach them to avoid being tackled (or tagged in our case) and run into the opponents territory and score tries. Watching the kids playing on Sunday, they were weaving their way down the pitch and working as a team with huge grins on their faces - absolutely brilliant!

We only have a couple of sessions left now, so we’ll be focussing on the matchplay a lot and letting the kids do what they enjoy best - playing rugby :)

It gets harder each week to pick trophy winners; further testament to their improving skills and attitude. However, a couple stood out to the coaches as they played really well and did some great stuff. This week, for his running, sidestepping, team play etc, the Scarey trophy went to Max Penny - well done Max! And for all of the above, and scoring try after try, the Cup went to Joey Camp - well done Joey!!

See you all Sunday.
