Are there any U7's left in Ringwood NOT playing rugby?!

I think we now have the largest U7s group in ERRFC history - at least recent history! It's great to see so many kids turn out to play rugby.

We tried introducing some of the basic rugby skills, partly to start them on their match-play course, and partly to assess their capabilities. Unfortunately, with only Alex and Andy coaching, this proved tricky with so many kids. It's a nice "problem" to have, and one that we'll work around. A huge thanks to Stuart and Ted for jumping in and helping out - that's what ERRFC is all about, the rugby family...

Thanks also to John and Rob for offering to help out with coaching in the future, to Helen for offering to add Assistant Coach to her First Aid title, and to Tracy for offering out to help out with management duties.

With all this new help, we could do with more. RFU guidelines suggest no more than 6 kids per coach; we have 35-ish kids signed on, so we could really do with another coach or two. Referees would also be very welcome, especially when we start playing matches. If you're interested in helping out, all training is provided through RFU accredited courses, and funded by the club. Please speak to Andy at training if you'd like to discuss further.

So, back to the kids and their rugby. Some tried very hard, and others found it all a little tricky - don't worry, we went through exactly the same last year, and we soon had them playing rugby, scoring tries and winning matches :)

For his effort, and being new to the game, this week Harry took home an ERRFC water bottle. Well done, Harry!

For quickly getting to grips with the games, and trying really hard, this week's Scarey winner was Joseph. Well done, Joseph!!

And for adding some great running and tagging during Bulldog, this week's trophy goes to Matthew. Well done, Matthew!!!

We'll have more of the experienced U7s back this Sunday, and we will try to get them playing rugby matches on another pitch (coach numbers allowing). This should hopefully give you an insight into where your kids will be in the not too distant future.

See you all Sunday.

P.S. In case you didn't know, the Rugby World Cup starts Friday evening with England vs Fiji. There will be loads of games on ITV, so please see if your little rugby player can watch some of the games - if they need encouragement of course :)
