...with turf under our studs.

With a few players missing, we were able to play more games and give them more space to run in - with a couple of new drills thrown in to get them thinking more, and adopting the ‘Principles Of Play’, as in move forwards, contest possession etc.

This all seemed to go in well as all the kids played some really good rugby, with fast runs, tries scored, but above all else, some excellent teamwork!

We haven’t done the trophies for a few weeks as it’s not always easy at Ringwood Rec or away fixtures, so it was nice to be able to reward their efforts. With so many kids doing so well this week, we looked back at last week too, where a couple of players stood out with their dynamic play and multiple try scoring (not that it’s all about winning, but…).

Scarey - originally named after Steve Carey who kindly donated him, but recently renamed; after all, he’s wearing all black and is usually given for excellent play, running, scoring etc. In honour of the World Rugby Emerging Player Award winner, Scarey becomes Nehe Milner-Scarey after the All Blacks winger who set the recent World Cup alight. For great running, try scoring, and starting to adopt a captain’s role organising his team, the first winner of Nehe was Matthew Stevens, well done Matthew!

Trophy - this is usually given for all aspects of rugby; excellent play, attitude, attention, Core Values etc. This week’s winner has been growing week-on-week into a very accomplished rugby player, well done Oliver Chamberlain!!

We are being hosting by Wimborne RFC this week in a triangular fixture with Swanage. Look forward to seeing you all there.
