Rupert and I would like to congratulate the whole team on a wonderful performance away at Tottonians today (in very sticky & muddy conditions) during the games that we held.
You have all improved (again) since the tournament, particularly in your attacking and defensive formation (arrow head and flat line), support play and tackling.
Some of the tackling today was ferocious, and technically very good, with some amazing rings of steel (not lettuce) bringing even the biggest of Tottians to the ground. After a really bone-crunching tackle from one of our team, one Tottonian was heard to say “..but, but, it’s only a practice session!!”. Superb.
It would have been impossible to single out one player of the week, and one core values award winner this week, so instead, as well as recognising a great team performance, I’d like to make special mention to the following players:
Holly – the most amazing tackling I’ve seen. You weren’t afraid to tackle even the biggest players. Your determination to bring them to the ground was a good lesson for all of us.
Zander – your tackling was awesome too. In one set of 7 tackles, I think that I counted you made 4 of them! [Let’s work on running in a straight line though... :-)
Freddie – you really got the hang of tackling today, and grappled some of their biggest players to the ground.
Rosie – you were on fire today (not literally) with your tackling. [Let’s work on making sure you stay on-side after we’ve made a tackle].
Charles – some great running today, bursting through the Tottonians defence, while also looking to make a pass to your support players.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at training next Sunday at 0930. We’ll be preparing for a triangular tournament at Wimbourne the following week.
Have a fun week.
Martin & Rupert
