Our Under 18's girl's did superbly well to win their local derby against Bournemouth based Oakmeadians by 24 points to 17, but this was a game that they could easily have lost.
Oakmeadians the brighter and scored two early tries to take a 10-0 lead and it looked as if they could run away with the game. However, the home side then settled and scrum half Vicky Childs in her come back game scored a great individual try from the base of a scrum to close the gap to 10-5. Fly half Jess Carey then followed this with a dazzling run, which finished with her scoring under the posts. She also kicked the conversion to give us a 12-10 advantage at the break.
Oakmeadians also started the second half strongly and a converted try gave them a 17-12 advantage, but our powerful forwards then started to boss the game, which gave opportunities for centre Sophie Carey and lock forward Rachel Merrien to score a try each. Lizzie Dodd also added a conversion to make the final score 24-17.
