Melksham Under 18's girl's 5 - Ellingham & Ringwood 22

Our Under 18's girls beat a reinforced Melksham side today by 22-5. The Melksham team were helped by players from Cleve in Bristol and Wells to make a full team - and we had some help from North Dorset so both sides were able to field a full 15, which made for an entertaining game.

The first half started off with both teams settling in. The play was forward dominated with a fair few breakdowns. As the half progressed both teams started to put phases of play together resulting in the ball getting out to the backs. Our girls were able to snuff out the Melksham attacks whereas ours resulted in a try from left wing Sarah Langford from North Dorset. This was soon followed up by an excellent break leading to a Sophie Carey try, which was converted by Sarah Langford.

The second half continued in a similar vein though as time progressed our forwards started to get the better of the breakdowns. On the occasions that the ball went out to the back line the girls made excellent progress with Hattie Watkins going over and later good following up by the forwards resulted in a try for Erin Hampson. Melksham managed to nick an unconverted try near the end from a quickly taken penalty.
