Ellingham and Ringwood under 18's girls 45 - Trojans 15

Our under 18's girls had an excellent result on Sunday in a hard fought local derby against Trojans, which extends the team’s winning run to six games in all competitions.

A strong Trojans side fought hard against our girls, denying us space and trying to prevent our free flowing, offloading game. However, were able to dominate the set piece at both scrum and lineout. Some excellent work from Casey Vines, stealing opposition ball at the lineout, provided us with a great platform from which to launch attacks. Despite having several players in unfamiliar positions we soon got on top and built up a healthy first half lead, with tries from Jaz Rampton, Alicia Maude, Olivia Horton (pictured) and Ava Seymour. Three of these were converted by Jaz Rampton. The only reply was a Trojans penalty kick.

We changed several players around at half time in order to try out new combinations and Trojans fought back strongly with two tries of their own. Our effort was further disrupted when the match went to uncontested scrums due to an injury in the Trojans front row. However as the new combinations settled down we regained control of possession and increasingly imposed ourselves on the game with three further tries from Alicia Maude, Jaz Rampton and captain, Ava Seymour. Two of these were converted by Jaz Rampton.

We were camped on the Trojans line and about to score our eighth try of the afternoon when the game was brought to an early conclusion for what appeared to be a serious injury to one of the Trojans players that required an ambulance to be called. Fortunately news from the hospital later revealed that the injury was not too bad and the player was able to return home.
