My goodness!!
The 43 - 0 score line (win!) certainly doesn't reflect the quality match the girls played today. It was a match that was very enjoyable to watch.
An awesome first game for Tao (what a solid performance - well done), Maria (super handling skills and speed) and Libby (confidence and team play improved throughout the whole match). Maggie's award of Player of the Match was absolutely deserved and was approved by the rest of the team. Katie sooooooo nearly scored her first try after working so hard to get to the line.
The old guard were on fire with their tackling today. Phoebe took home 3 tries and 4 conversions. Lydia and Evie won 2 tries each - making it look easy. Izzy managed a try from set play - proof that Raj actually knows what he's talking about!! Louise was so strong in bringing the opposition down and Maya was reliably solid in the forwards.
Lottie had a sound game as hooker and tackled well. Brooke was really in the mix today and gave a good account of herself.
HUGE thanks go to the parents who get the girls there and support the team through various means. Mike Kearney was a cracking ref today - his commentary and fair play are outstanding. The team are immensely grateful. Tori did a cracking Delia today - many thanks for the time in the kitchen. Joe Hishon was a SUPERB linesman for the latter part of the match - we extend our thanks for a professional job. Malcom kindly recorded the stats from the sideline and Claire has taken home the kit for washing. Our thanks go to Raj for running the team and doing such a brilliant job of coaching.
Our next match (away) is next Sunday against Oakmedians who are based in Bournemouth. Training on Wednesday at PBL at 7 o'clock will build upon today's game. Yoga will comprise the warm down so please bring yoga mats or the like. Yoga finishes at 9. It is really beneficial to Rugby players in this age group. The parents are welcome to join in - I do and it's seriously brilliant.
Please let me know if you are unavailable next Sunday. Lifts are available.
Well done everyone.
Thanks to Des Hishon for the cracking photo- what a brilliant bunch!
