Berkshire Barbarians Under 15's girls 17 - Ellingham & Ringwood 17

Reduced numbers due to the half term break saw our league figure against the Berkshire baa baas played as a 7's match. Having lost at home at the start of the season to what is effectively the Berkshires county side, our young hopefuls were keen to at least hold their own in the face of tough opposition.

Some skillful hands and strong running saw our girls put the first try down with a looping run from Georgina Henry followed by a huge hoof of the ball for the extra 2 points. The pattern of play and subsequent scoreline read like a game of tennis, with first one team taking the advantage only to be countered a few moments later. Ellinghams fantastic backs play saw futher tries from captain Phoebe Murray and our flighty stand-off Lydia Kearney who backed herself to score a try right under the posts. Eventual score saw a well earned 17-17 draw.

Once the business end of the league fixture was done and dusted, Ellingham borrowed a couple of Berkshire players to form a ten a side fixture against the baa baa's. Having clearly misunderstood the meaning of a 'friendly' our girls promptly put 8 tries to 1 on the board before calling it a day. A fantastic result all round and one the girls can be rightly proud of. They played as a team, had some fun in the process and came away with a smile and ready for the next challenge. Job done.
