Despite being up against a Dorset Barbarians side, that was in effect the Dorset County side, the girls battled really hard and came within a score of winning the game. A slow start by Ellingham meant that we were quickly two tries to nil down. A great try, scored by Charlotte Henry brought us back into the game at 10-5, but then Dorset pulled clear again to score another unconverted try to make it 15-5. Our girls rallied fantastically and took the game back to Dorset, with Thea scoring another unconverted try to bring it back to 15-10 with a couple of minutes to go. Unfortunately with virtually the last play of the game Dorset romped up our end and scored the final try of the match making it 20-10 to them.
This was the last match of the season and yet again the girls showed what a committed and talented bunch they are, playing some hard, effective and high quality rugby. We are now getting prepared for our end of season 7s tour which incorporates both the National 7s at Lichfield and the Melbourne Minxes tournament. Emma is working incredibly hard to pull all of the details of the tour together. I will try and get the girls back together sometime during early May to prepare.
In the meantime, have a couple of weeks off at the end of a long and very successful season and very many thanks to all of you, players and parents alike, who have all contributed so much to a great season.
