Road Trip to Alton...

Sundays adventures in rugby saw us travel to Alton and Petersfield for a friendly/ training fixture .

With the British winter weather doing it's best impression of a Californian summer our travelling tribe arrived 16 strong and ready to play .
Alton and Petersfield ( AP) were short handed so we decided to play 7 a side with us fielding 2 teams. Team E and Team R
Team E were led by Sophie Pidgley and took to the field first , winning the toss we chose to go up the hill for the first half.

We didnt take long to get into a groove with some nice passing and offloading team E soon found themselves over the whitewash again and again .

The 2nd half was much of the same, showcasing powerful runs and breakdown success . we decided to make some small tactical changes to keep it competitive( it's all about having fun after all) . By the final whistle Team E had done quite a job and recorded a decent win, meat pies all round .

Team E then played Team R in a touch game which allowed the opportunity to try out some new moves, practice kicks etc.
The final game was AP v Team R who were captained by Romilly Lewis,

After APs rest they came back on with a bit more gusto and made a very well matched opponent for team R .The first half was pounded out like an ASDA rump steak with both teams scoring tit for tat, it made for a game that looked like it could go either way.

The 2nd half got off well and team R started to look more organised , with Some powerful performances from our forwards and hard work from the team it helped keep the scores even throughout . It was a competitive and fun game to watch with every player giving it their all.

I'd like to end with saying how impressed I was with our new/less experienced players, they really got stuck in and of course the usual suspects smashed it.
