Game day 2 vs Havant

Sunday has arrived again and as if by magic so has the rain, ERRFC hosted Havant at PBL for an u13s extravaganza.

Our squad this week consisted of 17 players ,
Imogen C, Lola M, Molly L, Alexis B, Abby N, Elle B, Kitty T , Millicent C, Lula R, Sophie P, Lola S, Sophia T, RomillyL, Emma F, Lara H, Ellie J & Belle J

Teams were split into 2, Team Ellingham & Team Ringwood, and played simultaneously against 2 Havant teams. Then a 12 a side match to finish.

The first 4 games were hard fought, with Teams E&R winning 3 out of 4, but only a pre curser to the 12 a side main event against the large, well drilled Havant team. All girls got stuck in and showed some great handling skills in greasy conditions . Using our speedsters to out manoeuvre and out pace their opposite numbers we were off to a flying start.

With such formidable opponents the girls tackling had to be on point and oh boy the point was sharp, Elle B especially was a tour de force today beating back attacking players with her wrecking ball tackles.

Once the full 12 v 12 match started, hard work around the breakdowns gave us fantastic opportunity to get the ball away to the wings and unleash our equivalent of Usain Bolt ( Abby N) to go over for the score. Havant not rolling over kept the pressure on. Further tries took us in to a 3-1 lead with Havant scoring a try in the last play of the day to make the final score 3-2 to E&R. A great performance against a team who were physically bigger than E&R but they couldn’t match our team work and skill levels.

All the team played a fantastic game today some stand out performances from a number of the Girls especially Alexis in Team Ringwood. An extra special mention to all of the year 7’s who in only their 2nd game in u13s have really gelled with the older Girls and are adding value across the pitch

A special mention to Andy C for refereeing and for the kitchen squad for feeding us all at the end.

Once again the main thing is that everyone had fun and gave their all. Proud coaches and parents all round .

Well done to Lola S for her Captains speech and thank you to Richard Taylor Wealth Management ( and all of Team Taylor ) as our first kit sponsor of the season

Roll on Alton next week.

Over and out .
