ERRFC u13 Girls step up another level...

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, oh we do like to be beside the sea ( well Hurn Airport actually) - i digress. This Sunday saw us travel to another county and play Bournemouth RFC.

The team for this week were,
Romalie B, Maisie J, Lydia C, Lucy S, Lola M, Sophie B, Poppy C, Emilia W, Elle B, Molly L, Millicent C, Abby N, Lola S, Sophia T, Emma F, Romilly L, Ellie J, Belle J, Alexis B, Sophie P.

The sun was shining and the girls were up for it. We split our 20 players into 2 teams of 10 based on friendship groups and took it in turns to play a very good Bournemouth outfit.

Team Ellingham were up first and made a good early impression , trying out some of our training moves and battling hard at the breakdowns they came away with a lovely worked try down the wing.

Bournemouth were ferocious in the rucks and were successful down the middle of the pitch with their runners , scoring several trys this way.
As a reply, Team Ellingham stuck to their game plan and got the ball wide freeing up the wingers to score twice more ( great hat trick in the end for Romalie B ).

Unfortunately Bournemouth just edged it and took the game 25 v 15. It was a close game and the girls were fantastic.

Game 2 saw Team Ringwood take to the field keen to implement their 3 phase tactic code name "Tangerine " ( don't ask , the girls take ownership of their play names ) .

Off to a flying start, Ringwood were hitting hard and turning over rucks and possession like it was going out of fashion, quickly making space out wide to once again ( you've guessed it) free our wingers to score awesome trys. I'm sure at one point the airport were going to scramble jets as Abby was picked up on radar moving towards the airport at a few hundred mph.

This was 100% a team performance, with every player putting in a massive shift and knowing their role, the girls were rewarded with more points . Lovely passing moves and aggresive breakdown work made for one of the best performances i have seen from them. A win for Team Ringwood by 25-15.

We then finished with a 14 v 14 game with ERRFC playing a mixed Bournemouth/ERRFC team. Though everyone had fun, this session finisher was extremely competitive with the ERRFC taking the win.

All in all a lovely rugby day in the sun , with great opposition playing the game in the spirit it is intended to be played in.

All the girls gave 100% today and every single one of them done themselves and the club proud.

Thanks to Bournemouth for being great hosts and thank you to Chris B for officiating once again.
