In front of a buzzing home crowd for the women’s double header, Ellingham & Ringwood’s 1XV produced a thrilling attacking display to overpower Supermarine 66–13 extending their unbeaten start to the league season.
Supermarine struck first with an early penalty, but the Ellies hit straight back. Sophie Pidgley crossed in the corner for the opener before Jasmine Fox stormed under the posts for a converted try and a 12–3 lead. Supermarine’s kicking game kept them in contention, but the Ellies were relentless, Alice Elgar capitalising on a clever lineout move, and Ellie Dolbear finishing under the posts after slick phase play.
By half time, Ellingham & Ringwood were flying. Anna Fogel sprinted the length of the field for a solo stunner, and a dancing run from Sophie Pidgley added another just before the whistle to make it 33–6 at the break.
The second half was more of the same. Kim Riolo and Elena Watling both crossed early to stretch the lead, before Holly Veneroso’s perfectly weighted kick sent Niki Hufano through to score and celebrate in style. Sophie Pidgley then completed a superb afternoon with another breakaway try under the posts, and Paige White capped things off late on with her trademark dummy and finish.
Even with a yellow card and a disallowed try, the Ellies’ structure, pace, and fitness shone through in an outstanding 80-minute performance.
? FOTM - Anja Dixon, immense 80min work rate, huge turnovers, and dominant presence around the park.
? BOTM - Rhiannon Stoke, impressed in the 1XV side, electric energy on the wing, relentless in attack and defence.
With both the 1XV and 2XV securing wins, it was a day to remember at PBL a real showcase of how strong, relentless and united the Ellies’ women’s section has become ??
