Ellingham & Ringwood 1st XV travelled the relatively short distance to Totton to play Tottonians in their last league game of 2025. The home team opened the scoring with their full back Max Russell slicing through a leaky defence to score the first try of the game although this could not be converted. Ellingham started to wake up and apply the pressure on the home team's defence which led to a penalty being awarded which winger Chris Frost sadly just sliced wide of the uprights. Although Ellingham had a lot of possession and territory in the home team's half in the first 40 minutes of the game they could not convert their opportunities having a try held up when over the line for example, apart from when Chris Frost was successful with his second kick of the game to give the away team 3 points.
Whilst on the other hand Tottonians scored another two tries through their prop Nicholas Jensen and their hooker Liam Murphy, with fly half Ethan Riley who gave a man of the match performance by converting both his kicks to make the half time score Tottonians 19 - Ellingham & Ringwood - 3.
The home team secured their try bonus point near the start of the second half when outside centre Tommy Tully crossed the try line for Riley to convert to extend their lead. Ellingham fought back and eventually managed to cross the try line through some good work from the forwards with prop Adam Payne crashing over the line, Chris Frost was able to convert to reduce the deficit. Despite their efforts in particular from player of the match for Ellingham Joshua Ajiboye (pictured) who was a constant threat they could not add to the ten points scored.
Tottonians though added another two converted tries through inside centre Dylan Kirk and left winger Leo Tongue with the trusty boot of Riley adding the additonal point to make the final score Tottonians 40 - Ellingham & Ringwood - 10. The away team should be proud of the way they have performed in the first half of the season despite not winning a game yet the squad has developed and learnt with this score line showming they have progressed, because at the start of the season when Ellingham played Tottonians at home they scored 39 points and we scored 0, so the losing margin is less.
Both teams wil now take a welcomed break to enjoy the festive season and come back in 2026 with Ellingham & Ringwood's squad hopefully welcoming back players who have been out injured.
