We welcomed Havant on Saturday knowing this would be a tough game, with the visitors flying high at the top of the Hampshire Premiership. Havant started brightly and scored their first try after just four minutes. We fought back and the pressure told with Havant giving away a penalty which our centre, Andrew Kingsland kicked to reduce the deficit to two points. Unfortunately, some missed tackles and ill-discipline led to Havant scoring two unanswered tries to increase their lead. We fought back with Danny Patrice crashing over for a well worked try and fellow centre Andrew Kingsland kicked the conversion. Again, ill-discipline led to us conceding a converted try on the brink of half time to make the score 10-24 at the break.
Havant started the second half strongly scoring three converted tries, but we showed fighting spirit and Callum Butler playing in the back row went over for a good try. Andrew Kingsland also kicked a penalty and we tried to add to our score in the remainder of the match. We came close to getting another try or two, but Havant showed why they are top the league with some stout defence and attacking from deep in the second half to add a further four tries and make the final score 18 - 67.
