Our Under 13 Squad travelled to local rivals Fordingbridge today and completed a comprehensive 6 try demolition, meaning Ellingham & Ringwood have now completed a hat trick of wins against Fordingbridge this season.
Number 8 Sam "Tiny" Harrison chalked up tries number 19 & 20 for the season making him the first player in the current squad to reach the 100 point milestone; An amazing feat for a player who only joined the squad this season. Last year's Minis Player of The Year, Aaron "The Viking" Moritzen banged in three more tries and a conversion to finish the season on 92 points.
The first half started badly, (as usual), with Ellingham not waking up properly and allowing Fordingbridge's tallest and quickest player to breeze past for an easy try straight beneath the sticks, which was then also converted, (7:0).
After a few "words of wisdom" from the coaches, Ellingham woke up and Sam "Tiny" Harrison burst through on the right hand side to smash one down on the right wing. Oli "Shorty" Johnson was left with a very hard conversion and was extremely unlucky to see the ball skim off the outside of the post. Undeterred, Ellingham pushed forward again and Sam Harrison crashed over for his 20th Try (and 100th Point) of the season. Aaron "The Viking" Moritzen strolled up and duly converted, (7:12 to Ellingham). As usual Ellingham switched off and 5 minutes later Fordingbridge deservedly pulled another try back, (which luckily wasn't converted), leaving the score at 12:12 at half time.
The second half saw a different Ellingham side emerge and it took under a minute before Ellingham scored another try which was converted by Oli Johnson. Two minutes later, Owen "The Exocet" Dingle crashed through the Fordingbridge defence and sprinted half the length of the pitch for his first try this season, (in a 15 a side match). Anybody who would have forecast at the beginning of the season that they would have seen Owen running that far, that fast would have been dismissed as delusional! It just shows what the boys can do when they want to! The try was easily converted by Adam "The Suntan" Barber.
A 10 minute period of tough play saw the ball moving backwards and forwards towards each sides posts. Stephen "The Hitman" Whitehouse went on a couple of outings by himself, sprinting towards the Fordingbridge try line only to be denied by some great tackling by Fordingbridge late on.
Eventually the Ellingham pressure poved too much and two further tries from Aaron Moritzen sealed an emphatic win for the Ellingham.
Today's match saw some great forward pushes by Cameron Boerbel" Odendaal, Louis "The Stuntman" Harling and Josh "Crusher" Forster.
"Hey" Jude Chiari once again showed a good bit of pace and was unlucky not to break through. Will "The Hyena" Hannah was once again in his own tackling masterclass proving once again that size doesn't matter if you take someone's legs away.
A great way to finish off the Friendly Season and another great team/squad effort by all the boys.
They have worked tirelessly this season and have shown that if they stick together, they can really punch above their weight.
The whole Club should congratulate them on how much they have developed and how far they have come this season.
WELL DONE ALL Under 13 Squad Players.
