Sunday is game day...and we picked up a trophy on the way

Sunday as always was game day, this time our girls travelled to Guildfordians RFC for their first knock out festival, and knock out they did !!!

Team :
Elle B, Lydia C, Molly L, Sophie B, Sophie P, Lottie P, Alexis B, Millicent C, Lara H, Emma F, Lola S, Abby N, Romilly L, Lula R, Maisy Joy.

The girls were in pool B with 3 other teams, the top 2 teams would progress to the cup/plate finals respectively. Our first opponents were Wimbledon, to who we wasted no time in serving up some aces , scoring no less than 9 trys , with the final score bieng 45 v 15 it certainly was a centre court performance.

Game 2 saw the girls taking on Johnny Wilkinson's old team Farnham/Old Ruts. Brimming full of confidence after a great first game the girls once again stormed into a lead. With heavy tackling and skillfull team play our runners ran havoc scoring 7 tries and with a solid defence only conceeded 2. Final score 35 v 10, even a young Johnny Wilkinson himself would have been outclassed.

With the girls winning their first 2 games and Guildfordians winning theirs, the final game was a winner takes all to win the group and progress to the cup semi's. From the kick off it was clear that both the teams were evenly matched and this made for a real arm wrestle of a game. With Guildfordians scoring 3 trys and Errfc only breaking the defence to score once Guildfordians took the win . The game was won on some of the narrowest of margins and could easliy have gone our way. Final score 5 v 15 but an amazing match and a return fixture is already pencilled in the diary

Finishing 2nd in the group the team progressed into the Plate semi final, their opponents were a Chobham/Beccahamians combined side.
Quickly moving on from the last game , the Girls focused solely on the task ahead and went about demolishing the defence . Scoring from all over the pitch, they passed ,tackled and ran their way to a massive win. Final score 50 v 0. This game showed the improvements the Girls have made as our u11's lost heavily to Chobham last season with quite a few players in the festival squad

The Plate final v Old Alleynians/ old Ruts. This was it " The Final" , all their hard work was about to be rewarded . An energised team took to the field with one goal in mind , win the plate. They got off to a flying start using all their skills to weave , ruck and evade themselves to a decent lead. Old A / Old R were not going to give up and came back with a score of their own. The comeback was short lived and sharp passing and the enormous team effort became too much for the opponents, a last gasp breakaway run was had but some awesome tackling denied Old A / Old Rs another score. ERRFCs attack was finaly too strong resulting in the final try being scored making the score tally 25 v5
ERRFC girls u13 were now Plate winners of the Guildfordians RFC festival.

All 15 girls gave it everthing and this made picking a players player of the day very hard indeed, but pick one we did and it came down to their gritty, never give up attitude and 100% effort . Well done Molly Lewis

A great day had by all , smiles and laughter and rugby with friends. Thanks to all the travelling parents and Chris for Reffing and a massive thank you to Englands Leanne Riley for an amazing and ground breaking festival
